Patrice Calvel, architect-in-chief of the Historical Monuments in France, presented a lecture, “Splendors and Highlights of Stained Glass at Chartres: Restoration, Newest Techniques and Latest Discoveries” at Harvard University’s Sackler Auditorium on March 31, 2010. Presented by the Standing Committee on Medieval Studies, American Friends of Chartres, and Chartres, Sanctuaire du Monde, under the patronage of The French Consul General Christophe Guilhou, the lecture featured commentary on the restoration of the stained-glass windows. M. Calvel presented a fascinating review of the process and progress of the restoration. He concluded by stressing the importance of broadening the national scope of the project into an international concern.
